CityTrail Loppet
After the race my friend Dough said: “I had no idea there were these kind of trails around the city…”
The CityTrail Loppet, unlike many other running races, is on the trails. But these trails are a hidden gem within the city arteries. This year the race started at the Loppet Trailhead and finished down the the beautiful Sculpture Garden.
The were 2 distances, 5K and 10K for adults and youth, and a 10Mile only for adults. All 3 distances had very few asphalt terrain, but gravel, train tracks, dirt, and yes, a little mud. Right down at the Sculpture Garden all participants finished. Either running or walking, and the top ten actually sprinted all the way to the finished line.Â
Zak Ketterson won the 10K with a super human finish time of 33 minutes and 29 seconds. You can see his final seconds on this link, probably, doing 5min/mile.
